Early life edit

Reid attended Timpview High School in American Fork, Utah, and played on the football team. He racked up 185 tackles with 26 being for a loss, 5.5 sacks, one pass deflection, two interceptions, and a forced fumble.[1] Reid initially committed to play college football at the Utah State, but later decided to walk on at the University of Utah.[2][3]

College career edit

In Reid's first career game in 2021, he tallied 15 tackles, a sack, and an interception, helping the Utes beat Washington State. For his performance, he was named the Pac-12 freshman of the week.[4][5] Reid finished the 2021 season with 45 tackles with two of them going for a loss, a sack, two pass deflections, and an interception.[6] In week three of the 2022 season, he intercepted a pass and had half a sack, as he would help Utah beat San Diego State 35–7.[7] In week twelve, Reid recovered a fumble and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown, but the Utes fell 20–17 against Oregon.[8] Reid finished his breakout 2022 season with 72 tackles with 9.5 being for a loss, five sacks, three pass deflections, an interception, a fumble recovery, a forced fumble, and a touchdown.[9] For his performance, he was named second-team all Pac-12.[10][11] Reid was named preseason first-team all Pac-12 ahead of the 2023 season.[12] Reid was also named to the Butkus Award watch list, which is awarded to the nation's best linebacker.[13]
