Fred Dewilde (1966[1] – May 5, 2024[2]) was a French comics artist and survivor of the Bataclan terrorist attack in Paris.[3]

Attending a concert at the Bataclan on November 13, 2015, Fred Dewilde survived the coordinated terrorist attack carried out by Islamist militants in Paris.[2]
Despite physically escaping the massacre at the Bataclan, where he spent two hours amidst the bodies and the dying, the trauma eventually caught up with Dewilde.[2]
He published the graphic novels Mon Bataclan (My Bataclan) in 2016, and then La Morsure (The Bite) in 2018, both works about the Bataclan.[4]
He also contributed until his death, to the creation of a Terrorism Memorial Museum, which is expected to open its doors in 2027.[4]
Fred Dewilde took his own life on May 5, 2024.[2]
