English: The Shore Line Electric Railway Company: Predecessor Companies This pamphlet was published in 1961 by the Connecticut Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. It contains brief histories and photographs of the Norwich & Westerly System (Pawcatuck Valley, Groton & Stonington, Norwich & Westerly, Ashaway & Westerly), its descendant the Norwich & Westerly Traction Company, and the New London & East Lyme Street Railway Company. These various lines were acquired by the Shore Line Electric Railway during its expansion in the 1910s.
