Since 2017, YouTube has received criticism from numerous users and people due to reasons such as violating its' users privacy, enabling censorship, incorrect implementation of platform guidelines, etc. YouTube is a social media video platform founded in 2005. Despite the wave of controversy and negative-word-of-mouth dates back to the early 2010s, the mass-wave started around 2017.

First controversy years (early 2010s-2016) edit

The controversy dates back to the early 2010s, but the details are currently unknown.

in 2013, YouTube started forcing users to have a Google+ account to comment, which caused backlash. in July 2015, YouTube listened and separated Google+ from YouTube services.

in 2014, Susan Wojcicki became the CEO of YouTube, she has gained wide criticism and negative reception from the community.

Early controversy years (2017-2019) edit

On August 29, 2017, YouTube changed it's layout and it's logo. This got mixed reviews, with a few controversy. There was an option to switch back to the old YouTube at that time.

A Youtube Rewind episode, YouTube Rewind 2018 uploaded on December 6, 2018 was extremely criticized. The reason for this is because there were obscure or unpopular YouTubers, or outdated or obscure trends. a week after its upload, it had 10 million dislikes. Seven years prior to this video, a music video by Justin Bieber called "Baby" was the most disliked.
