History edit

1965-2004 edit

Three Rivers Christian School was founded in 1965 by Dr. Jim & Barbra Conrod, out of Northlake Church in Longview, Washington, originally called "Baptist Christian School". It was created during the rush of women rejoining the workforce, as they needed quality, affordable childcare for when the entire family was working. It was originally just a preschool, but then they decided to make a Kindergarten after public schools complained that the children coming into elementary school were too advanced in their reading and writing skills. This is then when they changed their name to "Longview Christian School".

Over the years, they kept adding more grades as the demand grew, eventually hosing Preschool all the way through 7th grade. This stayed the same since they did not have the facilities to run a high school.

2004-2014 edit

In 1996, Cornerstone High School was founded in the basement of a church in Kelso, WA, by Tim and Linda Nelson. It was a spiritual continuation of Longview Christian School, Serving 8th to 12th grades. It was formed by the parents of the children that had moved on from Longview Christian School. It was a small school, enrolling about 130 students at its peak. It was an alternative to going to public school, making it very popular with the parents of Longview Christian.

In 2004, after 8 years of Cornerstone Christian acting as a separate entity, it merged with Longview Christian School, and both of the schools changed their name to Three Rivers Christian School, (TRCS, shortened) making it the first and only Kindergarten-12th grade Christian school in Cowlitz County. The school stayed in the basement of the church in Kelso, however.

At the Kindergarten-7th campus, in this time they bought the houses next to the campus and have since been renting them out to families that go to or work for Three Rivers Christian.

2014-2022 edit

In 2014, The 8-12th grade campus found a more suitable home for the school in New Life Church, moving here at the start of the 2014-2015 school year. the 8th-12th grade campus stayed there until 2022, when they purchased an extra school campus from the Kelso School District,[1] which was formerly Beacon Hill Elementary. During this time, the 7th grade moved from the Kindergarten-7th campus to the 8th-12th grade campus.

2023-Present edit

Three Rivers Christian has stayed in the old Beacon Hill Elementary campus since, the first permanent home for the 7th-12th grade campus.
