"Jimmy" edit
Jimmy or James, is an aspiring actor and film-maker from Australia.[1] He has been an avid film critic on the app Letterboxd under the account name Bootsy.[1] According to his Letterboxd Jimmy watched 268 movies in the year 2023, and more than 365 in 2022.[1]
James writes reviews on the films he rates on Letterboxd on a very regular basis. According to his friends, James' taste in films is rather good and his reviews are consistent and fair enough that a movie James praises highly will always be a good movie (up until his 2023 reviews).

Forrest Gump edit
According to his anonymous friend, James has not seen the highly regarded Robert Zemeckis film Forrest Gump. James' friend has stated that they have asked James to watch the film for the past 3 years (since 2020).[2]
Declining Quality edit
James' friend alleges that James has been slowly losing his skills as a film critic until they became poor in mid-2022.[2] James' reviews do indicate this trend. According to his Letterboxd in 2019, James rated the film Parasite as a 5/5[3] equal to the Common Sense Media rating of 5/5.[4] In 2021, he rated Spider-Man: No Way Home a 4/5[3] also equal to the Common Sense Media rating of 4/5.[5] However, in 2022, James praised Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as a great movie despite only having a Meta Critic score of 64%. This evidence is not conclusive but does indicate a gradual decline in the accuracy of his reviews compared to the wider community consensus.

Seemingly as a joke James' friend posted a petition in late December 2023 to the website Change.org to garner support for James to watch the film, Forrest Gump.[2] However, as expressed in the petition itself and the web page that was released the day after the petition (www.makejameswatchforrestgump.com Password: jimmy) James' friends seem genuinely concerned about James' state of mind that they suggest is indicated by the declining quality of his reviews.[2] James' friend has suggested that James finally watching the film Forrest Gump would save him from this mentally ill state.[2]

As of present (01/01/2024) there has been no resolution to the movement and to there is no evidence that suggests James has watched Forrest Gump.
