Draft:The Akada Children’s Book Festival

The Akada Children’s Book Festival (ACBF) is a fun literary event that inspires a love of reading from an early age.[1] ACBF is the first and the largest Nigerian book festival specifically for children. The inaugural event took place on April 27, 2019 in Lagos.[2] [3]

The festival is an initiative of children's author Olubunmi Aboderin Talabi. In 2020[4] and 2021[5], the festival moved online due to the pandemic. The 4th edition of the festival in 2022[6], brought us back #TogetherAgain for a fabulous in-person event.

The festival, a showcase of children's books written by African authors or books from around the world written for a diverse audience of children. It provides an unmatched platform for children to see themselves reflected in the books they read, a celebration of African culture and heritage that promotes literacy and cultural awareness among children.[7]
