St.Antony's church Puthenpeedika is an ancient Syro-Malabar Catholic Church in west coast of Thrissur a district in kerala,india . the church was found in AD 1831 and separated from its mother church St. Antony's Church, Pazhuvil. the church is dedicated to St. Antony of Padua

The History of Christian community in this area lies in early centuries of A.D. Christianity is first brought to this area by St. Thomas one of twelve disciples of Christ. He landed muziris now days known as kodungallur in A.D 52. He establish 7 churches across Kerala, palayur church is one of these 7 churches. on the run of time Christianity is spread across surrounding areas and new churches established nearby. mattom, vadakkan puthukkad and enamavu are some of these new emerged churches. some of these Christians moved more south and reach Perumpadapu Swaroopam for trade and cultivation. eventually they settle near by areas of pazaur now known as pazhuvil and established a church there in A.D 883, it is a the first church in india dedicated to St. antonys of padua. the people in nearby areas worshiped there in a small chapel but their burial were at ancient church of enamavu eventually pazhuvil seperated as a new church. after many centuries in A.D 1831 puthenpeedika separated from pazhuvil and became a new church

The areas now called asPuthenpeedika is early known as irumbrayur. this was an ancient town in Chera dynasty its one of their clan irumporai clan thus the name irumbrayur emerges irumporai + ooru = irumbrayur. Also the place is significant because of one of family of cochin kingdom is in the area of this church "chazhur kovilakam" means chazhur palace
. this is may be because of its ancient connections from irumporai claan
