Draft:Songs Dedicated to the Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi II of Buganda

Ronald Edward Frederick Kimera Muwenda Mutebi II is the Kabaka (King) of Buganda. He was a young adult when he ascended to the throne On the 21st of November 1969 , upon the death of his father, Edward Frederick William David Walugembe Mutebi Luwangula Muteesa II. However, his coronation did not take place until the 31 of July 1993.

Ever since, his people have been dedicating songs to him. This is done in agreement with an ancient tradition of the Buganda Kingdom people, of communicating with their leaders, especially their Kabaka through works of art. Many choose song as their media of expressing their feelings, ideas and whatever thoughts concerning their nation. About 300 (three hundred) songs have been dedicted to Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi II. In addition to that are quite a few reference songs whereby, though the song is about a different topic, his name is mentioned in the lyrics. Nursery school children, school choirs, youth groups, professional musicians and singers, and old people, have dedicated songs to Kabaka Mutebi II, in both traditional and modern genres.
