Ryan Strnad (born September 17, 1971) is a beer vendor at American Family Field who created the political action committee Drinks In The Seats.[1]
Biography edit
Strnad was born in Oklahoma City, and after briefly living there and in rural Pennsylvania, he was raised in Muskego, Wisconsin, for most of his childhood life and graduated from Muskego High School. He served active duty in the United States Army as a cavalry scout from 1994 to 1997 achieving the rank as an E-4 specialist. When he returned to the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, suburbs as a civilian, Strnad attended Milwaukee Area Technical College receiving an associate degree in police science.
Career and running for office edit
Strnad has been employed by Delaware North Companies as an in-seat vendor at home baseball games of the Milwaukee Brewers since 1988. While first working at Milwaukee County Stadium, he started selling food items and briefly supervised. In 1998, he became an in-seat beer vendor where he is currently. In addition to working various events including the opening of Miller Park, he has since gotten politically involved with the union Workers United being a union steward and serving on the union's bargaining committee at the stadium. In 2017, as a union steward, and in response to expanded competition from the concession stands in the nearby concourses at the stadium, Strnad started Drinks In The Seats and became a lobbyist to defend the jobs of in-seat beer vendors at the legislative level,[2] as a result, he gave up his position as union steward in the process.
State Assembly race edit
In 2000, and while a resident of Oak Creek,Wisconsin, Strnad ran as a Republican for the Wisconsin State Assembly in the 21st District[3] where he lost to incumbent Jeffrey Plale. Strnad no longer considered himself a Republican starting in 2001, he currently is a member of the Waukesha County Democratic Party.
Personal life and family edit
Strnad is a resident of Mukwonago,Wisconsin. He holds down employment elsewhere to supplement his beer vending and lobbying work. He has been married and divorced three times with his daughter, Michaela, resulting with his 2nd marriage.
