Submission declined on 7 September 2023 by Nagol0929 (talk). This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by Nagol0929 8 months ago. |

Quote This Woman+ is a non-profit organisation and online platform promoting gender equity. It does this by building a database of women+ experts who are happy to be quoted in the media. Journalists are then lobbied to access the database and contact these experts.[1]
History and Mission
Quote This Woman was founded in 2018 by Kath Magrobi.
Currently in South Africa women are quoted as experts by media around 20% of the time. This declined to around 16% by the 2021 elections in South Africa according to Media Monitoring Africa[2], despite 55% of voters being women.
Activities and Initiatives
The organization operates primarily through its online platform, www.quotethiswoman.org.za, which serves as a database of women experts across a wide range of fields including academia, science, business, arts, politics, and more. This platform allows journalists and event planners to easily search for women experts by topic, location, and expertise, making it simpler to diversify their sources and panels.
Key Features
- Expert Database: Quote This Woman's website features a database of women experts who have voluntarily registered to be part of the initiative. Experts provide details about their areas of expertise, professional accomplishments, and contact information.[3]
- Advocacy and Awareness: Quote This Woman actively advocates for gender equality and the importance of diverse representation in media and public speaking events.[4] The organisation conducts awareness campaigns, workshops, and collaborations to highlight the significance of amplifying women's voices.
- Resource Hub: The organization's website serves as a resource hub, offering tips, guidelines, and best practices for journalists and event organizers on how to include more women experts in their work.
Impact and Recognition
Quote This Woman has garnered attention and recognition from media outlets, organizations, and individuals committed to promoting gender equity. The initiative has contributed to increasing the visibility of women experts in various media platforms and events, thereby fostering a more balanced and inclusive representation. Examples include articles published in France[5] and Nigeria[6]
