The drinks and nightlife site Punch is a brand of the digital media company Vox Media.[4] It covers drinking culture and home bartending, offering feature stories and guides alongside a cocktail recipe database with over 2,500 recipes. The property earns revenue via advertising, sometimes displaying content generated by Vox Creative.[5]

Punch was founded in 2013 by current editor-in-chief Talia Baiocchi and Aaron Wehner, EVP/Publisher Crown/Random House Publishing and focused on wine, spirits, cocktails, and nightlife.[6][7] In October 2014, Punch published The Essential Bar Book, the first of ten titles the brand produced over the next seven years with Ten Speed Press and Clarkson Potter: Spritz (2016), The Essential Cocktail Book (2017), Session Cocktails (2018), Winter Drinks (2018), The Mini Bar (2018), Easy Tiki (2020), The Essential Wine Book (2020), Another Round (2020), and Sparkling Wine for Modern Times (2021).[8][9]

In August of 2021, Punch was acquired by Vox Media as a companion brand to Eater, expanding coverage to include original social video.[4]

In 2023, Punch launched Pre Shift, a pro newsletter for the hospitality industry, in collaboration with Eater.[10]
