Onóir are a contemporary Irish male vocal group from Donegal, Ireland, named after the Irish language word for honour. The group consists of 4 members, Tom McHugh, Deane Conaghan, Diarmaid McGee and Declan Gaughan.

History edit

The group formed during the COVID-19 pandemic consisting of Deane Conaghan, Diarmaid McGee, Tom McHugh and Declan Gaughan.[1] They have released several music videos since including covers of "The Auld Triangle"[2], "The Parting Glass"[3], "Wayfaring Stranger"[4] and "Mad World" (feat. Tara Howley).[5]

They have performed in several theatres in Ireland such as the Hawk's Well Theatre Sligo,[6] An Grianán Theatre Letterkenny,[7] and Backstage Theatre Longford.[8] They have also performed at Marty Morrissey's "Marty Party" events.[9] They were featured on RTÉ Today presented by Daithi O Sé as part of the St Patricks Day's 2024 celebrations.[10]

The Mary from Dungloe International Arts Festival confirmed Onóir in their music lineup for the 2023 festival.[11] In December 2023, they hosted a free virtual concert on their social media pages, selling tickets for a raffle during it, with the proceeds going to Simon Community homeless charity.[12] The year prior, they released a cover of 'Mad World' to raise funds for the charity also.[12][13] Later in the month, they also participated in EnCór Tír Chonaill's Christmas concert fundraiser at St John Bosco Centre in Donegal. The concert was organised to raise funds for the youth choir and offset running costs.[14]
