Ola Belgore - full name is Isiaka Olarongbe Belgore - born on June 24, 1974 to Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Eyitayo Saidu Belgore and Alhaja Modupe Belgore in Ilorin, Kwara State of Nigeria.
Ola started his earlier years in Ilorin growing up amongst other family members at the family house located at Isale Ajanaku off Emir Road, Ilorin, Kwara State. He started his primary school in 1980 at the popular Ansarul Islam Primary School, Oke-Aluko in Ilorin and later went on to Okesuna Primary School, Ilorin.
At about 1982, he moved to Makurdi, Benue State where his father was posted to at the time and he was enrolled at EKan Primary School, Makurdi. He had to leave Makurdi two years leave with his father's new posting to Lagos State and he was enrolled at Mate Nursery and Primary School, Ketu, Lagos State starting from Primary 3. He did so well that earned double promotion to primary 5. From Primary 5 he wrote and passed the common entrance to move to a secondary school but his parents decided he needed more time at the primary school so he has to go on to primary 6. He appealed to his father to take him to another school so his mate would not think he did not pass the Common Entrance and so he completed his primary school education at New City Nursery and Primary School, Ketu, Lagos State.
He went to Apostolic Church Grammar School, (Apolo) Ketu for his secondary but had to leave again for Kwara State following his father's police posting to Patigi. It was at Patigi Secondary School, Patigi (PSS), Kwara State that he completed his secondary school education in 1994. He finished at PSS as the Head Boy (senior Prefect).
Ola Belgore enrolled in the pre-degree program of University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, in 1997 from where he got admission to study Microbiology at the faculty of science in 1998 finishing his first degree in 2023. He obtained his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Lincoln Univeristy, Oakland, California in 2010.
Ola started his career as an Intern at TRW Stockbrokers Limited before been deployed for the one-year National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) program at the School of Nursing, Akure, Ondo State. After passing out of the NYSC in 2006 he resumed back to TRW Stockbrokers Limited as a Marketer. He left TRW for Meristem Securities Limited in December. He started out as an Investment Advisor and played several roles in the Meristem Group becoming the pioneer head of Wealth Management at the newly established Meristem Wealth Management Limited and later becoming the Head of Group Business Development. He left Meristem in May 2014 to become the Managing Director of Afrinvest Asset Management Limited. While at Afrinvest, he created/managed several funds including the Nigeria International Debt Fund, The Afrinvest Plutus Fund etc.
in September 2020, he left Afrinvest to start a new fund/portfolio management firm registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria. Ola Belgore is the current Managing Director of Utica Capital Limited and the Fund Manager of Utica Custodian Assured Fixed Income Fund - the first investment and insurance blended fixed income fund approved by the SEC, Nigeria.
