Nicholas Taylor Mansfield (December 6, 1982 – December 12, 2019) was an artist and photographer known for Definitions, Forever Guilty and Weathering the Storm: Trauma Beneath the Surface. He was the production designer for the films To Hell and Gone, The Phantom Hour and Thane of East County.

Early life edit

Mansfield attended North Side High School and played hockey, influenced by Tie Domi of the Toronto Maple Leafs.[1]

Career edit

In 2008, Mansfield co-owned Combat Martial Arts at Old Hickory Mall in Jackson, Tennessee.[2]

His creation Definitions is a series of photos about America.[3] His work Weathering the Storm: Trauma Beneath the Surface was featured as part of the San Diego Art Institute space in Horton Plaza[4] and Forever Guilty focused on the "difficulties faced by people with a criminal conviction."[5] In 2013, Mansfield was a tour guide for Bike and Kayak Tours, Inc. in Coronado, California[6] and an art director for Fjorde Magazine.[7]

In 2019, Mansfield owned an art space called Revival in Nogales, Arizona and was the art coordinator at Santa Cruz County School Superintendent’s Office.[8]

Death edit

On December 6, 2019, Mansfield was arrested in Santa Cruz County, Arizona for assault charges on a 15 year old female. He was released on December 11th while the investigation continued. The next day, Mansfield died near Hermosillo, Mexico. There is speculation whether he died by suicide or was hit by a moving vehicle.[5]
