Dato Sri Mazeed Nizaar (July 17, 1902 – January 5, 1993) was a prominent political figure in British Malaya and Malaysia. He served as the Minister of British-Malaya Diplomatic from June 21, 1944, to August 30, 1957, and as the Minister of Country Financial from January 22, 1952, to August 30, 1957. He played a significant role in the negotiations with the United Kingdom that led to Malaya's independence.

Early Life and Education edit

Mazeed Nizaar was born on July 17, 1902, in Melaka, British Malaya. He pursued his higher education at the University of London. He was a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) from its inception.

Political Career edit

Mazeed Nizaar's political career began with his appointment as the Minister of British-Malaya Diplomatic in 1944. He held this position until 1957, during which he was also appointed as the Minister of Country Financial in 1952.

In 1964, he was appointed as the Minister of UMNO of Borneo, a position he held until his resignation in 1969 due to the 513 incident.

Mazeed Nizaar was also actively involved in the corporate sector. He founded the Country Individual Company (CIC) in 1965 and served as its Chairman until his retirement in 1984. His leadership at CIC significantly contributed to the economic stability of Malaysia.

In 1972, he competed in the UMNO Leadership Election and was subsequently elected as the Council Leader of UMNO. He resigned from this position in 1989 due to his retirement.

Later Life and death edit

In his later years, Mazeed Nizaar continued to support the political leadership of Malaysia, notably backing Tengku after the creation of S46 in 1989.

He passed away on January 5, 1993, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, leaving an unknown.
