Marcelle Clements (born 1948)[1] is a French-born novelist, essayist and journalist based in New York City.[2] She is currently a professor at New York University.[3]

Biography edit

Born February 17, 1948, in Paris, France, Marcelle was brought to the United States in 1958 where she is a naturalized citizen. She graduated Bard College in 1969 with a B.A. in Music.[1] She went on to write prizewinning essays and articles for numerous publications, including the New York Times, Esquire, Elle, and Rolling Stone.[3]

Since 1999, she has taught a seminar on Proust's In Search of Lost Time at NYU's College of Arts and Science, where she is a Collegiate Professor[3]. Each spring, she leads workshops in Advanced Fiction and Advanced Creative Non-Fiction in the Creative Writing Program. She is a recipient of NYU's Golden Dozen Teaching Award.[3]
