Life Is Strange, a video game series by Square Enix, features multiple teenage characters whose stories are changed by player choices. The player's engagement to the characters is pivotal for it. The series' playable characters are American teenagers facing forms of coming-of-age. Its characters were praised for being relatable for players.
Conception edit
The series features supernatural elements, with the developers giving an ability to a main character that reinforces the narrative theme.[1]
The series' DNA consists of relatable characters, social themes and supernatural elements, according Co-Creator and Writer Jean-Luc Cano in December 2019.[2] Michel Koch has described the series and the approach to its characters as an anthology series similar to TV series like True Detective or American Horror Story.[3] The players' empathy towards characters is part of the DNA according to Writer Christian Divine in September 2018.[4]
