Submission declined on 6 November 2023 by Tails Wx (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Declined by Tails Wx 6 months ago. |
- Comment: The sourcing is such that I feel this needs to be migrated and merged into the university's own article. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:47, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: In addition to a missing lead, the images are too big - see MOS:IMAGE and MOS:IMAGESIZE. Draft also fails general notability guideline - I'd like to see more than local coverage. Tails Wx 16:44, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: It needs a lead section. See WP:LEAD. Suitskvarts (talk) 07:45, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi! I shrunk the images and added a lead section. I also added another news source coverage. It seems to have ample coverage in comparison to other collegiate improv teams that are listed in on wikipedia (See:Exit Players, Starla and Sons, Just Add Water (improv troupe),Purple Crayon) or Lee University groups (See:Lee University Campus Choir). In addition, Channel 9 news, The Chattanoogan and Cleveland Daily Banner are all reliable, secondary and independent news sources that do not affiliate with Lee University.
The Lee University Shenanigans is a collegiate improvisational theatre team based at Lee University in Cleveland, TN[1]. They perform shows utilizing both long form and short form improv comedy (See the article "List of improvisational theatre companies" for similar collegiate improv troupes).
History edit
Founded in 2007, by Nicolas Cupp, Shenanigans is Lee University's first improv comedy team.[2][3][4]. Over 80 past members have populated the small and often exclusive team since its founding[3][5]. In accordance to rules improv theatre, their family-friendly shows are completely unscripted, and various improv games are played solely based on audience suggestion[5]. The Clarion, Lee University's student news, called Shenanigans "one of Lee University's staple clubs"[6] as each of their shows draw hundreds of students and community members to attendance[3][5][7][8]. They are known to perform for Lee University's annual "Lee Day" celebration as well as their alumni homecoming event, where they put on a 15-year anniversary show in 2022[6][9][10][11][3][12][13][14]. At the end of each year, the team likes to perform a musical improv show that features a guest piano accompanist[15][16]. Otherwise, the team tends to perform three sets of shows per semester[15][16]
Shenanigans plays both short form and long form improv games including their trademark long form game "Spork River"[17][18].[11] Each game is introduced by the host of the show, who is a member of the team, and engages with the audience members[19]. Additionally, they have also been known to put on stand-up comedy nights[4]. Historically, shows cost $1 per person, catering to the undergraduate crowd[18]. Until its closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team performed annually in the Gatlinburg Improv Festival at the Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre [20][17][21][22]. During the pandemic, the team took a hiatus from their regular shows to create an improv podcast titled "4, 3, 2 - Fun! The Shenanigans Podcast" named after the game-opening line of the team's show hosts[23][11][19]. Cast members refine their improv skills during the two club rehearsals each week and engage in secretive traditions during practice and before their shows[6][18]. Along with routine on-campus shows, the team hosts improv workshops that are open to the student-body and local community[4][24][25]. The team's mascot is a penguin, and their regular audience attendees are called "shenanifans"[11][3][24][19].
