Biografy Laura Vallés Vilchez (1984)
BIOGRAFY: Laura Vallés Vílchez (Castelló de la Plana, 1984) is a curator, editor and researcher. He studied Fine Arts and completed a Masters in Photography at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. This allowed him to do a residency between the two studies at Northumbria University (Newcastle upon Tyne). In 2022 he received his doctorate from the Royal College of Arts in London, where he currently teaches curatorial courses and directs the European project 4Cs From Conflict to Conviviality through Creativity and Culture.
He started teaching thanks to a grant from the Botín Foundation and uses his work as co-founder and editor of the Concreta project to do so. Concreta is a publishing house that publishes a magazine and several books, and sediments previous experiences in organizations that move between the pedagogical environment and the public environment. An example of this is Afterall London, a publishing house linked to Central Saint Martins; He worked there in 2009. Then, in 2010, he went to MoCP at Columbia University (Chicago).
As a curator, he has held several exhibitions: Te toca a ti (EACC, 2018), 15,600 días. Xisco Mensua (CCCC, 2019), A través de la arena (Azkuna Zentroa, Artium and CentroCentro, 2019-20), Mitos del futuro próximo (Fotonoviembre, TEA, 2019-20) and Teresa Lanceta: Tejer como código abierto (MACBA- IVAM, 2022-23). He has also given lectures at various institutions: Royal Academy of Arts, SOAS, University of Granada and UPV/EHU. And he has also translated works by Isabelle Stengers, Donna Haraway, Moyra Davey and Paul B. Preciado.

Laura is a cultural worker operating at the intersection between editing, curating, writing, translating and educating within the expanded field of the visual arts. Laura's academic work focuses on post-representational curating from an intersectional feminist perspective. In 2021, she was appointed UK Creative Director of the 4Cs From Conflict to Conviviality through Creativity and Culture project. Activities include the exhibition Adam Khalil & Bayley Sweitzer with Oba: Nosferasta at Gasworks, curated with CCA alumnus Sabel Galvaldon, the film programme Sensible Grounds: That's How We Undo It at LUX, curated with Azar Mahmoudian, as well as seminars and workshops. As founder and editor of Concreta: an organization on image creation and theory that publishes a biannual magazine as well as a series of books, she has edited and/or translated the work of authors such as Jacques Rancière, Donna Haraway, James Meyer, Ariella Azoulay and Marina Garcés, among others. She has curated exhibitions and organized events with the filmmakers Pedro Costa or Fabrizio Terranova, the artist Carla Zaccagnini, or the philosopher Franco Berardi Bifo, among other professionals in the sector, at La Filmoteca (Valencia), Feira Tijuana (Porto), Fundació Tàpies (Barcelona ) or Lumen Studios (London). She has worked on exhibition and editorial projects in institutions such as Bombas Gens (Valencia), EACC (Castellón), Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago) or Afterall (London).
