Kixx is a lubricant brand launched in 2005 by GS Caltex Corporation,[1] a South Korean energy and chemical company.[2]

Kixx is the leading lubricant brand in South Korea.[3] At launch, Kixx was primarily an engine oil brand focused on passenger cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles. In 2017, Kixx expanded to cover automotive and industrial lubricant solutions. The brand encompasses roughly 200 lubricant products.[4]

History edit

Origins and Production
In 2005, LG-Caltex Oil Refinery – Korea’s first private oil refining company – became GS Caltex. GS Caltex launched Kixx as a passenger car, commercial vehicle and motorcycle lubricant brand.[5]

The production of Kixx lubricants is handled by GS Caltex’s Yeosu Factory and its Incheon Lubricant Factory, both of which were established in 1967.[6][7]

In 2007, GS Caltex completed the construction of its Yeosu Base Oil Plant, which houses the fourth largest single-site refinery in the world.[8] The Yeosu Base Oil Plant can produce 16,000 barrels a day and enabled Kixx to expand its product range via technologies such as hydro-cracking.[9]

Kixx products begin their manufacturing process at the Yeosu Base Oil Plant[10] and are completed at the Incheon Lubricant Factory.[11]

International Expansion
In 2010, GS Caltex established GS Caltex India Private Ltd. in 2010 and opened a Russia Representative Office in 2012, allowing Kixx products to expand into international markets.[12]

Further Developments
In 2017, Kixx expanded into industrial as well as automotive lubricant solutions.[13]

Kixx’s name is derived from the English verb “kick”. As of 2017, Kixx’s brand slogan has been “All Ways with You”.[14][15]
