Karl Onibuje (commonly known by his former stage name Karl Rasheed-Abel) is an English Multi-Instrumentalist, Composer, Song-writer and Record Producer.

He co-founded the band 1000 KINGS.[1] His first albums under his own name were release in November 2023.

His musical style consists of Jazz, Pop, Rock, Folk, Avant-garde, Electronic and Dance.

Early Life edit

Onibuje began playing Trombone at the age of 12 and went on to perform with the London School Symphony Orchestra. He began playing Electric Bass at 16 and then Double Bass 18. He received a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music and studied there for a year.[2]

Career edit

Onibuje emerged in the London Jazz Scene, playing with musicians including, Soweto Kinch,[3] Femi Temowo, Troy Miller, Alan Weekes, Jason Rebello,[4] Shabaka Hutchings and Courtney Pine.

Onibuje has toured around the world extensively as a session musician playing bass with Jazz artist (Soweto Kinch, Jason Rebello, Courtney Pine) and Pop artist (Laura Mvula,[5] Christine and the Queens, Jerry Dammers' Spatial AKA Orchestra).
