Irène Fernande Ekouta (born February 1, 1990) is a Cameroonian journalist and writer. She is the author of two books, including D'amour et de glace published in 2017 and Mes confessions anonymes in 2020. In 2005, she won the first prize for spelling organized by the International Organization of La Francophonie.
Biography edit
Irène Fernande Ekouta was born on February 1, 1990, at the Central Hospital of Yaoundé in Cameroon. She obtained her primary school certificate in 2000 and pursued her secondary education at Mendong High School. In 2010, she graduated from the Advanced School of Information and Communication Sciences (Esstic)[1].
In 2005, Irène Fernande Ekouta won the Premier prix d’orthographe (First prize for spelling) organized by the International Organization of La Francophonie as part of the Francophonie Day celebration. In 2017, she wrote her first book titled D'amour et de glace in 2017 and reached the semi-finals of the Young French-Language Writer competition the same year[2].
She has worked for several press outlets, including magazines of the Sopecam, the daily newspaper Le Jour in 2010, and Régie star in 2015. She also worked as a press attaché for Charlotte Dipanda[3]. Ekouta published her first book D'amour et de glace in 2017 and her second book Mes confessions anonymes in 2020, which she considers a form of therapy, recounting her life experiences[4].

In addition to her writing career, Irène Fernande Ekouta is a member of several associations, including Maman apprends moi, which participated in COP 22 in Marrakech, Morocco, as part of the Forum for Social Innovation and Global Ethics (Sigef) organized by Horyou in 2016. She is also a member of the association Le pagne en folie, which organizes an exhibition-sale of African fabrics and showcases the skills of local artists and craftsmen. She is involved in writing scripts for cartoons and covers various music, dance, and film festivals in Cameroon and other countries such as Cape Verde, Morocco, and Ivory Coast[5].
