Draft:GoBoat Australia

  • Comment: I don't see independent notability from the main operation. The article there is pretty bare as well, so adding the content from here would actually help it out by a lot. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 10:55, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

GoBoat Australia launched in 2017 in Canberra on Lake Burley Griffin[1]. The launch of the Australian operation was the first time the Danish-designed boats were available outside Europe.[2]

Locations edit

GoBoat Canberra edit

GoBoat initially launched in the Kingston Harbour, expanding to a second location on Queen Elizabeth Terrace[3] in 2023.

They have partnered with local charity ACT Down Syndrome and Intellectual Disability to run multiple fundraising campaigns since 2021.[4][5]

GoBoat Melbourne edit

GoBoat launched in Melbourne in 2019, initially sailing from Docklands[6] before moving to a temporary home at Southbank and finally Banana Alley in the CBD.[7]

GoBoat Gold Coast edit

GoBoat Gold Coast launched in December 2019, initially sailing from Sanctuary Cove.[8] After closing over COVID, GoBoat reopened at the Gold Coast in December 2022 sailing from Capri on Via Roma, Isle of Capri.[9]

GoBoat Brisbane edit

GoBoat Brisbane launched as a temporary pop-up at Kangaroo Point in April 2021[10], before moving to their permanent home in Breakfast Creek October of the same year.[11]

The Kangaroo Point popup location was one of the businesses forced to close after the Queensland state government's controversial decision to evict commercial operators from the Dockside Marina in 2022.[12]

Since 2024, GoBoat Academy has been co-located with GoBoat Brisbane at the Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct.

GoBoat Sydney edit

GoBoat Sydney launched in December 2021, and operates from D'albora Marina at Cabarita Point on the Parramatta River.[13]

GoBoat Geelong edit

GoBoat opened at the Geelong Waterfront in October 2022.[14] The location closed temporarily in April 2023, citing challenges finding qualified staff and broader tourism industry challenges.[15]

Boat manufacturing and sustainability edit

GoBoat Australia partnered with Cruise Craft Boats in Brisbane to build boats in Australia, with the first boat completed in October 2022. They are currently the only electric boats built in Australia.[16]

The Boating Industry Association recognised GoBoat's commitment to sustainable boating in 2023, awarding them the inagural Sustainability in the Boating Industry award at the Sydney International Boat Show.[17] In presenting the award, the BIA said that "...[t]heir dedication to sustainability is evident across all aspects of their operations from design and construction, to 100% electric propulsion solutions and activation as hire and drive."[18]
