Festus Oluwasogo Adebayo (born 4th April 1968) is a leading Nigerian affordable housing advocate, Lawyer and highly respected media entrepreneur. He is the founder of Housing TV Africa, the first Housing Television to be established in Africa,[1] he is the convener of the largest housing exhibition and largest networking platform – the Africa Housing Show.[2][3]

Childhood and Family

ADEBAYO was born in Ilesha, Osun State, Nigeria, on 4th April 1968, to Ezekiel Adebayo and Abiodun Adebayo from Ilesha in Osun State. He grew up with six siblings.

Education

He studied Political Science at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree. Afterwards, he proceeded to University of Lagos for his Bachelor's degree in law and later his Masters Degree in Business Administration.

CAREER edit

Early Career

Adebayo worked with the Nigerian Industrial Development Bank, now the Bank of Industry as a Youth Corper serving in the one-year compulsory National Youth Service Corps from 1991 to 1992. He was also appointed Executive Secretary of the newly established S.O. Housing Foundation by the Buba Marwa military administration in Lagos State.

He entered into the Nigerian Housing industry through the establishment of the Housing Development Advocacy Network[4] - The pioneer civil society organization for promoting affordable housing development in Nigeria.[5] Through the advocacy platform, he established the first housing television program[6][7] on NTA in 1997 and another one on AIT in 2003.

He also served in the then Amicable Bank Limited as a Banking Officer. After three years of service, He resigned.  He was appointed Executive Secretary of the newly established S.O. Housing Foundation[8] by the Buba Marwa military administration in Lagos State. That is how he started his journey into Nigeria's housing industry.

Government

Adebayo has served the Nigerian Government in Various capacities. He served in the Committee on Privatization of Federal Government Commercialized Assets. He also served in the Federal Government Committee on the Regulation of The Real Estate Sector.[13] He also served the Enugu and Edo State Governments in the formulation of Housing Policy for the States.

He also served on the Federal Government's Sustainability Committee on Housing,[14] and is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management.

Philanthropy edit

The Festus Adebayo Foundation

He established the Festus Adebayo Foundation in his home town to support elderly people who need help.

He also pioneered an annual scholarship for the best WAEC student in Ilesha West Local Government Area of Osun State. He is involved in the free training of artisans in the area of empowerment for youth development in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. He has been involved in various community support projects. He has sponsored many artisans' training and empowerment programs.
