Eugene Correa (born April 22, 1993) from Long Beach, California is an American professional mixed martial artist.[2] As stated by the news outlet Long Beach Post as a professional fighter, Correa has a 4-2 record with an active three-fight winning streak.[3]
Background edit
Correa is the son of Mexican immigrants that arrived to Long Beach, California.[4] In an interview with La Opinion, Correa stated that he grew up in the foster care system and lived as a child in various foster homes within the Los Angeles County. [4] In 2019, he started his own business called Correa MMA with the stated purpose of empowering others through his story. [4][5]
As a professional, Correa placed fourth in the 2017 Sport Jiu-Jitsu International Federation (SJJIF) World Jiu-Jitsu Championship held at the Long Beach Arena.[6]
In an interview with Telemundo, Correa stated that the battle that has marked him forever are the scars his childhood left him.[7]

Early career edit
Early in his career Correa used sports as a way to avoid the gang life and forge a better life for himself and his family. Correa first learned karate while living in a group home that offered free classes. In Long Beach, he began training under Oum Ry at the Long Beach Khmer Kickboxing Center, where he began to develop as a fighter.[8]
