Dave Dhammika Guruge is a New Zealand-based academic[1].[2] and business professional [3][4]
Guruge as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Cargills Food Company, Sri Lanka's largest supermarket chain[5] [6], has been involved in supporting football by sponsoring the FA Cup.[7][8] As the COO of Cargills, Guruge participated in a press briefing at the Football House in Colombo, where he spoke about supporting Sri Lankan football [7]. Earlier in his career in South Asia, Guruge held a role as a Sales Manager.[9] at Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC, where he played a part in the expansion and refurbishing of new Singer Mega and Singer Homes showrooms across Sri Lanka.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16] Guruge established a business venture in Cambodia, where he assumed the role of CEO for Retail Holdings, parent company of Singer Asia's Cambodian operations, opened three Singer Mega retail stores in Battambang, Sisophon, and Kampong Chhnang.[17]
Guruge's research at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology and Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand focused on few areas, including environmental sustainability[1], diversity and inclusion policies for individuals with intellectual disabilities,[2] computer science education[18][19], and multicultural leadership[20][21]
Guruge serves as a board member of the Epilepsy Association of New Zealand Incorporated, known as Epilepsy New Zealand[3] [22] and trustee of Tauranga girls College[23].
