Crisp Inc. is an open data-sharing platform[1] for the retail food industry.[2][3] It was founded by the CEO, Are Traasdahl,[4][5][6][7] and Dag Liodden.[8][9]

Overview edit

Crisp is headquartered in New York, NY, with customers including CPG brands Greenleaf Foods (makers of Lightlife),[10] RxSugar,[11] Sanofi, Hormel,[12][13][14][15][16][17] Rebel Green, and NotCo.[18][2][19]

Crisp’s mission is to reduce food waste by enabling data collaboration in the supply chain.[10][20][21] Crisp is working with CPG companies to improve food supply chain data access and visibility to minimize waste and improve profitability.[22][23][24]

The platform automatically takes data from retailers, distributors, and syndicated data sources such as Walmart, Amazon, Target, KeHE, and UNFI,[25][26] normalizes the data, and pipes it directly into easy-to-read dashboards and business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Azure Blob Storage, and Microsoft Excel[26][27] to enable actionable insights.[28] Crisp is the first CPG-focused SaaS platform listed on Snowflake Data Marketplace.[20][28][29][30]

History edit

Crisp was founded on April 13, 2016,[1][31][32] by Are Traasdahl and Dag Liodden.[33] Traasdahl is the co-creator of Thumbplay,[8] a digital entertainment service acquired by Clear Channel,[21] now iHeartMedia, and the co-founder of marketing technology company Tapad, which he sold to Telenor Group in 2016 for $360 million.[34] Dag Liodden is also the co-founder of Tapad, where he served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) until 2017.[34][35]

In December 2020, Crisp announced its open-data platform for Programmatic Commerce.[36][37][38][1]
