Chancery Lane (Chinese:贊善里) is a small street behind Victoria Prison that got its name from a street in West London where the Court of Chancery and many law firms are located.[1]
The name “Chancery” could have been a promise by the colonial government to ensure fair legal representation for all individuals standing trial. The enclosing walls there have existed since 1851.[2]
It is home to 10 Chancery Lane Gallery, a gallery specialising in contemporary art from the Asia-Pacific.[3]
