BuddyBoss is an open-source social networking WordPress plugin, forked and forged from the BuddyPress plugin.[1] It is a plugin that can be installed to allow users to create online communities on their websites, including online forums and private groups.[2] BuddyBoss is designed to have features for private messaging and member connections, much like other social media platforms.

BuddyBoss expands on the functional elements of the WordPress software including themes, plugins, and widgets. It is written using PHP and MySQL, the same languages WordPress itself is built on.[3]

BuddyBoss has launched multiple products over the years, which include, the Buddyboss Platform plugin, the BuddyBoss Platform Pro, the BuddyBoss WordPress theme, and the BuddyBoss Native app for Android and iOS.

  1. BuddyBoss Platform: A free WordPress plugin that transforms any WordPress site into a social network with features such as member profiles, groups, activity feeds, notifications, and more. It is claimed to be compatible with thousands of WordPress plugins and themes and can be customized by developers using its open-source code and API.
  2. BuddyBoss Platform Pro: A paid WordPress plugin that adds advanced features to the BuddyBoss Platform, such as Zoom integration, private network mode, network search, and more.
  3. BuddyBoss Theme: A WordPress theme that provides a sleek and modern design for the BuddyBoss Platform and its integrations. It is claimed to be fully responsive, customizable, and compatible with popular page builders such as Elementor and Beaver Builder.
  4. BuddyBoss App: A mobile app solution that allows users to create native iOS and Android apps for their BuddyBoss Platform/Non-BuddyBoss websites. It is powered by React Native and offers features such as push notifications, offline access, app store submission, and more.

BuddyBoss products are used by over 50,000 customers worldwide, including educators, entrepreneurs, organizations, and communities [4]. Some of the notable customers are Project Life Mastery, WPCrafter, Atarim, and LearnDash

BuddyBoss has a global team of over 150 employees, working remotely from 13 countries. The company is led by two co-founders: Tom Cheddadi, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer, and Michael Eisenwasser, who serves as the Chief Technology Officer. Shelby Fernandes is the Chief Operating Officer, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the products and services. Some of the notable employees of BuddyBoss found publicly are Graham Hoffman, Joseph Montañez, Joey Toribio, Arshadina Najib, Lizclay Barot, Rafayat Chowdhury, Ayushdeep Singh, Rajin Sharwar, Konrad Karauda, Thomas Jutla.[5]
