Boonmee Poungpet holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of the West in the USA, a Master's degree in Religious Studies from the University of the West in the USA, and a Bachelor's degree from Mahidol University in Thailand.

Research Interests edit

Dr.Boonmee Poungpet is engaged in the academic study of Early Buddhism, particularly early Buddhist meditation practices and teachings, and is interested in the intersection of Buddhism with children, youth and environmental issues. In his study of Early Buddhism, Boonmee Poungpet delves deep into ancient scriptures such as the Pāli Canon and meticulously unravels the intricacies of meditation techniques and the philosophical underpinnings that form the foundation of the tradition. His research illuminates the transformative potential of mindfulness, concentration and insight cultivation as expounded by the Buddha, and offers insights into their significance for contemporary spiritual seekers and scholars alike. In addition, Boonmee Poungpet's scholarly inquiry goes beyond the realm of ancient texts to examine the practical application of Buddhist principles in solving pressing problems faced by children and adolescents. He explores how Buddhist teachings can influence the moral and ethical development of young people and foster compassion, empathy and resilience in the face of life's challenges. In addition, Boonmee Poungpet looks at the intersection of Buddhism with environmental ethics and sustainability. Drawing on the Buddhist principles of interconnectedness and compassion for all sentient beings, he explores how Buddhist teachings can inspire environmentally conscious behaviors and attitudes that foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world and promote environmental stewardship.
