Banded Peak Brewing, established in 2016 as an independent craft brewery in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is now a part of Labatt Brewing Company. Widely distributed through Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, Banded Peak is available is bars and liquor stores across Western Canada.[1]

Founded in 2016 by 3 childhood friends: Alex Horner, Matthew Berard, and Colin McLean, Banded Peak has become a notable breweries from Alberta.[2][3] The breweries name comes from Banded Peak, a nearby mountain that is well known to Calgary adventures.[2]
In January of 2020, Banded Peak was purchased by Labatt Brewing Company for an undisclosed amount.[4] Banded Peak Brewing would remain a standalone entity, operating its own brewery and taproom, with oversite from Labatt.[4] This followed a recent deal by Sleeman to purchase another Calgary craft brewery, Wild Rose Brewery.[4]
In December of 2023, Labatt Brewing Company invest $9.6 million into the brewery, allowing Banded Peak to quadruple in size.[5] This investment allowed Banded Peak to increase the brewery’s footprint from 4,800 square feet to more than 12,000 square feet, along with increasing the production capacity from 5,000 hectolitres a year to 20,000 hectolitres a year.[5]

Banded Peak has a wide variety of core, sessional, small batch, and collaboration beers. With a focus on using local and high quality ingredients, many of their beers use Alberta Malt.[3] Many of Banded Peaks beers are available in variety packs, along with multiple sizes available for their core beers.

Guardians of the Ice Serries: edit
Guardians of the Ice is a nonprofit organization focused on the rapidly-shrinking Columbia Icefield as a leading indicator of climate change, with a purpose to engage the public to build support for a low-carbon future.[6] Together with Banded peak, they have create a small batch serries called Guardians of the ice, where a portion of sales goes to support Guardians of the ice.[7] Each beer in the serries is also named after a well known mountains in the Canadian Rockies, such as Mount Castleguard and Mount Alberta.[2]
Community Pints:[8] edit
Banded Peaks Community Pints program is a program to support local organizations. Every month, a organization partners with Banded Peak, and a portion of sales from their taproom is used to support the organization. Information about each organization is also made available to help raise awareness for the organization. Some notable organizations include the Calgary Food Bank, Avalanche Canada, and Canadian Mental Health Association.
