Amanda Hsu (Chinese:徐詩妍; pingyin: Xú Shīyán) (Born January 4, 2005) is a Taiwanese-American figure skater. She is the 2023 Mexico Cup bronze medalist and competed at the 2024 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.

Personal life edit

Hsu was born on January 4, 2005, in New York City, New York. She is in partnership with the bakery brand Insomnia Cookies. Hsu's skating idols are Evgenia Medvedeva and Yuzuru Hanyu.

In September of 2023, she began studying at Rutgers University.

Hsu began skating in 2014.

2022–2023 season edit

Hsu debuted for Chinese Taipei and competed internationally at the 2022 Reykjavik International Games placing fourth at the junior level. Later in the season, she made a debut at the senior level where she competed at the 2022 Philadelphia Summer International, where she placed ninth. The following week Hsu ranked fifteenth overall at the 2022 Cranberry Cup International.

In October, Hsu made a first appearance on the ISU Challenger Series, she came twenty-fourth at the Finlandia Trophy. In the same month she competed in the 2022 Chinese Taipei Figure Skating Championships earning the silver medal. Hsu then ranked sixteenth at the 2022 Tallinn Trophy.

In May, Hsu won the bronze medal at the 2023 Mexico Cup to end the season.

2023–2024 season edit

Hsu began the season with a seventeenth finish at the 2023 Cranberry Cup International. The following week Hsu ranked sixth at the 2023 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy where she was able to get the technical minimum score in the short program for the 2024 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.

In October, Hsu competed in the 2023 CS Autumn Classic International where she ranked twelfth overall. She then participated in the 2023 Tayside Trophy finishing sixth. The following week she placed ninth in the 2023 Trophée Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur where she was able to meet the technical minimum score in the free skate for the 2024 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships. Hsu finished silver at the 2023 Chinese Taipei Figure Skating Championships.

To conclude her season, Hsu competed at the 2024 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships where it was her first trip to the ISU Four Continents. She qualified for the free skate and placed twenty-fourth overall.
