Nasser Hajjaj (Nasser Mehyi Hajjaj Arabic: ناصر محي الحجاج b. 14 August 1970) is an Iraqi American poet writer journalist and university professor and researcher [1][2]. Born in Basra, Iraq and a citizen of the United State since 2006. [3] As a public intellectual and cultural critic, Hajjaj is well known for his contribution to the field of Arabic Culturology where he published his book “Sayyab: The Identity of Iraqi Poetry” Arabic السياب: هوية الشعر العراقي [4]

Early Life: edit

Nasser Hajjaj was born on 14 August 1970 in a village called Shalhat El Hijjaj 90 km northern Basra province. He finished his primary, middle and high school in Huwair. [5] Hajjaj publish his first poem when he was 15 years old in Arrasid newspaper . He was exiled to Damascus, 1991 then to Beirut 1992 where he persuaded his study of Arabic Linguistics at the College of Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the Lebanese University. [6]
