Aleksandr Yurievich Prokopiev (Russian: Александр Юрьевич Прокопьев; born June 10, 1971) is a Russian ice hockey player turned coach.[1]
Career edit
Trained at Kristall Elektrostal, he began his senior career in 1987. He debuted in the Soviet Elite with HK CSKA Moscow three years later. He won the national title 1995 with HK Dinamo Moscow, then signed for HC Vítkovice in the Extraliga. Returning to his native country, he won two new championship titles with Dinamo in 2000 and Avangard Omsk in 2004. With the Omsk club, he added to his list of achievements the Champions Cup and the 2005. He ended his career in 2006 after one season with the Khimik Moskovskaya Oblast.
International career edit
He represented the Russian ice hockey team 156 times. He participated in eight editions of the World Championship for a record of a silver medal in 2002.
