On 7 March 2024, gunmen stormed a school in Kaduna State, Nigeria, and reportedly took 287 students hostage. It is the largest kidnapping of students in Nigeria since the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapping of 2014.[1]
Initially, the amount of students taken hostage was believed to be 100, until the school headmaster reportedly gave a head count and concluded that 287 or more students were kidnapped.[2]
