The Dhankhar are a Jat gotra that claims descent from a branch of the Dharan or Dhoriwal. The gotra started after Dhanakhanda province of Maharaja Moradhwaja.[clarification needed] They have originated from Raja Dhananjaya of Nagavansh.[dubious ] Moradhwaja was a Chauhan ruler in the Alwar region around 5th century AD.
