Dhankhar

      The Dhankhar are a Jat gotra that claims descent from a branch of the Dharan or Dhoriwal. The gotra started after Dhanakhanda province of Maharaja Moradhwaja.[clarification needed] They have originated from Raja Dhananjaya of Nagavansh.[1][dubious ] Moradhwaja was a Chauhan ruler in the Alwar region around 5th century AD.

      • Garib Das (1717–1778) was a saint and reformer noted for his piety and poetry.
      • Risaldar Badlu Singh, Victoria Cross, Dhankhar Jat from village Dhakla district Jhajjar (Haryana), was an Indian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
      • Kanishtha Dhankar is an Miss India World 2011
