Cutting these comments by Linas disputing the categorisation policy to here, out of the main article:

Except that entropy in physics is the same thing as entropy in dynamical systems, which is the same thing as entropy in information theory. Just they symbols used are different. But its the same entropy.
Except those articles which are about both, such as the entropy of dynamical systems, or of markov chains, etc. which are about thermodynamic entropy expressed in in different symbols. Geez.
I don't think so Linas. The original Clausius definition of entropy is heat divided by temperature Q/T flowing across the boundary of a thermodynamic system; there is no heat divided by temperature flowing through the boundary of, for example, a fiber optics cable carrying information. --Sadi Carnot 13:20, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Linas, if you have issues then put a Disputed tag on the category page, and discuss it here in talk. But it is not appropriate simply to grafitti the main page.

For a susbtantive discussion of your point, see Category_talk:Entropy_and_information, and Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_March_7#Category:Entropy_in_thermodynamics. It is better to concentrate the discussion in those forums, rather than repeat it here.

Yes, perhaps I should have written "See also" Category:Entropy and information, rather than "To be distinguished from" Category:Entropy and information.

But overall in my mind there is not the slightest doubt the division of the old, and altogether mixed-up, entropy category into two sharply defined sister categories adds value and adds clarity.

Articles on entropies which are generally defined, without necessarily any specification to thermodynamics, should go into "Entropy and information". The dynamical systems articles fall into that class. Jheald 09:17, 8 March 2007 (UTC).Reply
