why is "2007 Zehedan bombings" listed as "Terrorist attacks in the United States"?
Issues with "terrorism" edit
Anyone else have a problem with the creeping trend to use the term "terrorism" as a blanket description of ANY armed resistance to government? It strikes me as uncomfortably close to the neocon efforts to redefine "liberal" as a curse. I'd suggest that the word has lost most of its meaning by being subverted to scare propaganda usage, and description of armed resistance to any government should be classified factually and without the political loading. There's a subtle, but very slippery semantic slope here. Bogswoggle (talk) 17:52, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, its a completely POV category. Amongst academics, NGOs etc there is no clear agreement on what terrorism is apart from it being mainly an invented government and media term. The US government uses the term of course but so did the apartheid government in South Africa.. as well as used by UK gov in 50s to describe Mau-Mau resistors. The category really shouldnt be here on wikipedia - only the 'designated by US Gov' cat should exist. --maxrspct ping me 14:21, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
