Category talk:Marvel Cinematic Universe original characters

Same category

edit

This category has exactly the same purpose as Category:Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, they should be merged. El Millo (talk) 16:45, 10 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not exactly; this category contains characters who were created originally for the MCU, like Coulson. --Kailash29792 (talk) 16:53, 10 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Why are we allowing multiple redirects to the same page?

edit

If we allow, say, Tyler Hayward and Darcy Lewis, then fine. I don't think categories should be 85% filled with redirects, most to "Characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe" unless it's expressly a category for redirects, but whatever. Even if we keep those there, there are three different redirects of AJ and Cass Wilson, three of Hunter B-15, three of Katy Chen Bashir, and two of Dreykov. That's not even bringing up the three redirects of MJ, the one of Sylvie, and the one of Xu Wenwu in the same category as the page each redirects to. Hulk (Marvel Cinematic Universe) (redirect) isn't included in "Category:Marvel Cinematic Universe characters" or "Category:Hulk (comics) in other media" alongside Bruce Banner (Marvel Cinematic Universe) because it's a redirect. Why are M.J. (Marvel Cinematic Universe) (redirect), Michelle "MJ" (Marvel Cinematic Universe) (redirect), and Michelle (Marvel Cinematic Universe) (redirect) all here alongside MJ (Marvel Cinematic Universe)? Why is Sylvie Laufeydottir (redirect) next to Sylvie (Marvel Cinematic Universe) if the former is just a redirect to the latter? Surely one is enough. -IJVin (talk) 22:08, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

But they still meet the category's criteria of being MCU original characters, don't they? InfiniteNexus (talk) 23:52, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hulk (Marvel Cinematic Universe) matches the criteria of being an MCU character, but that redirect page isn't in that category. Like I say, if we allow Hayward and Lewis, then fine, but at least get rid of the multiple redundant redirects to MJ, Sylvie, and Wenwu. -IJVin (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 04:50, 22 December, 2021
That's because there is a subcategory called Category:Marvel Cinematic Universe character redirects to lists. InfiniteNexus (talk) 06:20, 22 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
And the redirects for MJ, Sylvie, and Wenwu are all on it. They don't need to be here. They are redundant. They redirect to a page that's already in this category. The redirects don't need to be in this category just like Hulk (Marvel Cinematic Universe) doesn't need to be in the major categories. Wenwu (Marvel Cinematic Universe) meets the criteria of "Category:Marvel Comics martial artists," but that page is not in that category. I can't believe I'm debating whether a redirect page should be in the same category as the page it redirects to. We've got three different versions of Hunter B-15 on there. Let's throw Hunter C-20 on there. Let's create Hunter C-20 (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and Hunter C-20 (Loki) and throw those on there with it just to be consistent with Hunter B-15. Let's put Michelle Jones-Watson on there and make Michelle Jones-Watson (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and MJ Watson (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and put them all on there. They all meet the criteria, right? And that's what matters, right?-IJVin (talk) 03:08, 23 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okay, fine, I agree with that. InfiniteNexus (talk) 03:30, 23 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
This is bureaucracy, folks. -IJVin (talk) 03:45, 24 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Claire Temple

edit

May I please remove Claire Temple (Marvel Cinematic Universe) from this category seeing as she is not original to the MCU but rather based on Claire Temple? -IJVin (talk) 02:51, 23 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes. InfiniteNexus (talk) 03:31, 23 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
