Conflict? edit

Looks to me like there's a conflict between the categories:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:BitTorrent_clients and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Free_BitTorrent_clients

Azureus for example counts as both, yet is only listed in the smaller Free BitTorrent Clients section. It would be better I think to have a single pool for all BitTorrent Clients and then handle the free software issue as a subset. Having a complete list would be clearer for the unitiated, and perhaps help in the construction and maintenance of a client comparisons page much like those for other software types such as Web Browsers. --John Muir 00:55, 12 July 2006 (UTC) John Muir 00:55, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I just came on this page to say the same thing. I agree with John's comment. Let's reduce to just the BitTorrent_clients category and leave detail of whether free or not in the article (usually in the info box on the side). Especially because it's not clear whether 'Free' in the latter category title means free as in beer or speech. Oska 09:09, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Free software BitTorrent clients must have a "Free ..." category to be in. Otherwise, they would go in the general Category:Free software, and right now we're trying to break that category down because it is too big already. One alternative would be to have a "BitTorrent implementations" category and put the free software BitTorrent implementations into a broader category such as "Free p2p software"? utorrent needs to be added edit

www.utorrent.com needs to be added to the list.

uTorrent is not free software, it's proprietary freeware. Gronky 10:34, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Turbo torrent edit

Do those packages come with source code that recipients can modify and redistribute? i.e. are they free software? If so, go to the artcles about them and add: "Category:Free BitTorrent clients". Gronky 00:22, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
