Proposed template update edit

The template for Category:Vigil Brother Wikipedians has been updated so that users are also added to Category:Arrowman Wikipedians. (There are 28 using {{user vigil}}, and they are all included in the 109 members of Category:Arrowman Wikipedians.) There are currently 28 userpages in Category:Wikipedians in Scouting, but there are 199 in Category:Eagle Scout Wikipedians ... by adding Category:Wikipedians in Scouting to {{user eagle scout}}, the numbers would make more sence. I'd like to discuss it here, but I think it should also be added to {{user vigil}} and {{user Arrowman}} ... since there is no problem of duplication, editors can still have all four userboxes (Scouting, Eagle Scout, and either or both Order of the Arrow templates), or just having their "highest" achievement will also include them in "Scouting".

Next question ... Category:Wikipedians in the Boy Scouts of America with 38 members currently, or Category:Wikipedians in Scouting with 28 members? My thought is that the OA is strictly a BSA thing, so that's a no-brainer, but I'm conflicted about Category:Eagle Scout Wikipedians ... OTOH, there's a {{User eagle scout philippines}}, so I lean toward Category:Wikipedians in the Boy Scouts of America for Eagles as well, instead of Category:Wikipedians in Scouting. —141.156.240.102 05:34, 14 October 2006 (UTC)— (talk|contribs)Reply

Update: I have edited the {{user vigil}} and {{user Arrowman}} templates to include userpages in Category:Wikipedians in the Boy Scouts of America (you must be one in order to be the other), and it instantly grew from 38 members to 142 ... I can see now that Category:Wikipedians in Scouting is really supposed to be a grouping of Scouting related categories, regardless of gender or nationality. Consequently, I withdraw my suggestion that {{user eagle scout}} automatically create membership in any another Scouting related category. —141.156.240.102 08:51, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Deletion edit

I'd hate to be the one to ask... but is this going to get deleted like all the other organization related categories and userboxes? They did it for Alpha Phi Omega, and I can't imagine this staying. -Theanphibian (talkcontribs) 17:07, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't know. Put a watch on this cat and hope you never see an AFD tag on it.Rlevse 18:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh you better believe I have. But still, I'm downright angry that they deleted the Alpha Phi Omega category. The deletion phase they went through was ridiclous. -Theanphibian (talkcontribs) 19:15, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

self-cat edit

This category has 'decided' to be a sub-category of itself, leading to an endless loop. Can someone tell why and fix it? —ScouterSig 20:35, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because the userbox adds the category; which is why I added the |categories=no switch to all the userboxes recently to be able to suppress the category. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 20:55, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
