Intro is short but way off base edit
Most of the intro is nonsense: "In computing, disk file systems are file systems which manage data on permanent storage devices. As magnetic disks are the most common of such devices, most disk file systems are designed to perform well in spite of the seek latencies inherent in such media."
I think the use of "permanent" is to distinguish from removable. But, isn't a floppy also a disk? And, the list includes optical disk format ISO9660 which is for a removable optical disk.
The stuff about magnetic disks designed to perform well ... is off topic for a list of formats.
I'm going to simplify it alot.
Thing is, the list includes formats that are not even disk based. FAT works on any media. I think the list is a list of file system formats. But, I'm not going to solve all the world's problem today. Stevebroshar (talk) 13:23, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
