Triple category

I notice that there are three different categories : assassinated monarchs, murdered monarchs, and murdered kings. I think that may be a bit too much. Couldn't we use only one of these ? I guess murdered monarchs might be the right one to use. Wedineinheck 22:49, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Mattias mateusz (talk) 23:12, 26 March 2008 (UTC)I sincerely feel that the swedish king Karl XII should not be included in this list, since his alleged assassination mainly stems from a legend of the era of national romanticism. The supposed "bullet" made out of a swedish officers button (which would indicate that he was shot by one of his own officers) surfaced around 1920, more than 200 years after the event (and under quite dubious circumstances), and recent studies have shown that, while the exact circumstances can hardly be reconstructed nearly 300 years after the event, there is basically nothing that points towards the assasination theory, whereas quite a few facts suggest enemy fire to be the cause of the kings death. There will be an examination of the kings skull (the first one in 90 years and consequently the first using up to date technology) later this spring, and the scientists hope to find among other things microscopic metal fragments that would point in some certain direction as to what kind of projectile hit the king. Depending on the results of that examination the exact chain of events will probably still remain unclear, but the historians hope that this might rule out (or at least make even more unlikely) the assasination theory. Almost everything points to the death of Karl/Charles XII being a case of "KIA" rather than a murder.Mattias mateusz (talk) 23:12, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
