The German Tarok group of card games encompasses those games which, although not true Tarock games themselves, have been adapted from them to use standard French-, German- or Swiss-suited cards. Typical characteristics:
- Positive point-trick games
- Hearts as permanent trumps or a preference suit
- If players cannot follow suit, they must play a trump
- Soloist plays against 2-3 defenders
- Soloist bids to play with or without the talon
