The club was founded in June 2022 as a replacement for the folded Extremadura UD, who disappeared due to serious financial problems, which resulted in them being expelled from the Primera RFEF.[1] Although the club was supposed to take its place in the Segunda Federación, they failed in doing so and like every newly established club in Spain, they began life in the Segunda Extremeña.

It took them a season to get to level 6 by beating the likes of CF Piornal in the first promotion phase, and AD Hispanolusa in the final phase. This marked a first promotion in its first year of existence.[2]

History edit

Club Deportivo Extremadura 1924 was founded in 2022 by a Spanish businessman Daniel Tafur as the successor of the dissolved Extremadura UD.[3] His first task as the club’s president was to get its predecessor’s place in the Segunda Federación,[4] but they failed and therefore, the club dropped to the Segunda Extremeña, the lowest category of Spanish football for football clubs in Extremadura.

Their debut season began at the seventh level at group 5, with their debut opponent having to be EMD Aceuchal B, gaining a 4-0 win in their first league match in existence.[5] Performances similar to that match continued and, in doing so, they won their Segunda Extremeña group and participated in the promotion play-offs at a chance of promotion to the Primera Extremeña. By beating AD Hispanolusa in the second phase of the play-offs, they achieved an instant promotion.
