Bathylutichthys taranetzi is the only species of the fish family Bathylutichthyidae (the Atlantic sculpins). It is a deep sea fish with a length of about 10 centimetres (3.9 in) SL, and has been found exclusively in the vicinity of the South Georgia Island in the Southern Ocean at depths of 1,650 metres (5,410 ft).
