Barbara Skrzypek (born 8 January 1959) is a retired government official, who from 1990 to 2020, was the secretary, and one of the closest co-workers, of Jarosław Kaczyński, chairperson of the Law and Justice party. In 2018, she was ranked at the 41st place on the list of the 50 most influential people in Poland by the news magazine Wprost. Currently, she is a board member in the Lech Kaczyński Institute, an organisation which is the main shareholder of the company Srebrna.

Barbara Skrzypek was born on 8 January 1959.[1]
From 1980 to 1989 she was a clerk in the Office of the Council of Ministers. There, among other functions, she was a senior office clerk and senior statistician in the Secret Chancellery, and also worked in the Prime Minister office and the on the office of Michał Janiszewski, the ministry director. She later begun working in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.[2][3] In 1990, she became the secretary, and one of the closes co-workers of Jarosław Kaczyński, chairperson of the Law and Justice party. She was also a head of the party chancery and director of the party presidium office.[4][5]
She had retired from her position as a secretary in 2020, after working with Kaczyński for almost 30 years.[4] The same year, she became a member of the board of Lech Kaczyński Institute, an organisation which is main shareholder of the company Srebrna. Skrzypek herself owns 2 shares in said company, and her son, one.[6][7]
In 2018, the weekly news magazine Wprost had ranked her at the 41st place on their least of the "50 most influential Poles", recognising her as "the most mysterious, and simultaneously one of the most important women in Polish politics".[8] She became more widely known to the broader public thanks to the 2017 political satire television series The Chairman's Ear, revolving around the character of Jarosław Kaczyński. It featured her fictionalised version, portrayed by Izabela Dąbrowska.[4][9]
