Balasangham is the largest children's organization in India. None other children movement in the world has the organization setup equal to this one. It has about 10 lakhs members working in about 20000 units across Kerala. Balasangham is politically linked to the Communist Party of India (Marxist).Balasangam is one of the most big childrence group in the world and its kalajatha Venalthumbikal is the biggest children theater in Asia. The first Balasangam started it's operations on 28th December in 1938, at Kalyassery of Chiraykkal panchayath in Kannur.

E.K. Nayanar was the first president of Balasangham.
