Awaba railway station is a station located near Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia at Awaba on the Main North railway line. It is served by electric trains of CityRail's Newcastle & Central Coast Line service. The station opened in 1887,[1] and consists of two side platforms. The station is served by intercity trains to Sydney and local trains to Morisset. In 1993, the original weatherboard station building on the down platform was damaged in a fire and consequently demolished.[2] It was subsequently replaced by the present lighter-weight structure.
Until its formal closure in December 1989, Awaba was the junction for the line to Wangi Power Station, the remnants of which remain behind Platform 1.[3]
